buTa international urban lab is a platform of international acting partners from the fields of architecture, urbanism and town planning. In flexible teams the members work together aiming to complement one another in their expertise to achieve holistic solutions for the projects.
  •     Dr. Renate Bornberg

    Founder and partner of buTa international urban design lab
    Urban designer, reseracher, architect.

    Born 1963 in Vienna/ Austria, she studied architecture at the TU Vienna, Austria, where she received her diploma in 1994. After working as an architect (Atelier Prof. Dr. Ernst Hiesmayr, Reinhard Galliester), she received her PhD at TU Vienna in 2003. From 1996 to 2000 and 2004 to 2010 she was a researcher at the Institute for Regional Architecture and Settlement planning at the Leibniz University of Hanover. From 2000 and 2003 she was a lecturer in Urban Design at the Department of Civic Design, The University of Liverpool, U.K. From 2010 to 2012 she was a visiting professor of iInternational Urban Design at the Leibniz University of Hanover. Currently she is a lecturer at the TU Darmstadt (mundus urbano), at the University of Vienna (Kulturanthropologie) and at the MSA- Münster School of Architecture.

    She is member of the executive board of the Institute of Comparative Cultural Studies (Technical University of Vienna), member of the executive board of Trialog and editor in chief of jccs-a (Journal of Comparative Studies in Architecture), which she founded in 2007. In 2012 she founded buTa – international urban design lab with her partners.

    Her research and practical work focuses on comparative settlement structures in both, primitive and so called high cultures, including European and Non-European cities, towns, villages and compounds. Of particular interest are the social implications that are embedded in the built environment.

  •     MSc. Arch. Haluk Uluşan

    Haluk

    Founder and partner of buTa international urban design lab
    researcher, architect, urban designer

    Born 1981 in Istanbul/Turkey, he obtained his bachelor degree in architecture at the Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University in in 2007 and his master degree at the ITU (Istanbul Technical University) in architectural design in 2011. Part of this degree he carried out at the Leibniz University of Hanover as ERASMUS student in 2010.  Since 2012 he has been working on his PhD degree in Istanbul and Germany.

    He has worked as full-time lecturer at the Istanbul Yeni Yuzyil University and at the Istanbul Okan University and as invited lecturer at the Istanbul Technical University (ITU) between 2010-2012. During his previous experience between years 2005-2010 he worked as architect and designer at Simon & Simon Planungsgemeinschaft/Celle/ Germany and Norm Architects Design and Construction Company/ Istanbul

    Currently he is occupied as  research and teaching assistant at the Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, Faculty of Architecture. 
    In 2012 he founded buTa – international urban design lab with his partners.

    His research and practical work focuses on theory and history of design, practice-theory relationships in architectural discourse, architectural design paradigms in intersection with contemporary theory, as well as concepts of urban space design.

  •     D.I. Elica Tabakova

    Tabakova

    Founder and partner of buTa international urban design lab
    Urban designer, reseracher, architect, painter and graphic designer.


    Elica, born in Momchilgrad Bulgaria in January 1987,
    studied architecture at the University of Hanover, Germany, where she also received her diploma in 2011.

    She subsequently held a teaching assignment
    at the department of painting and graphics and
    worked for several architecture offices in Hanover and Munic. Besides, she is a painter and graphic designer.

    In 2012 she founded buTa - international urban design lab with her partners.

  •     D.I. Arash Bagheri

    Unnamed

    Founder and partner of buTa - international urban design lab.

    urban designer, researcher, architect and site manager. 

    Born in 1984 in Iran, he studied architecture at the Leibniz University of Hanover in Germany where he participated in many international projects. In 2012 he completed his diploma and in the same year he received an award for his degree work from “Die Bayerische Akademie Ländlicher Raum e.V.”.

    During the same year he start as charting architect and focouses on site-manager in housebuilding-project in cologne, where his first realized house-design build 2013.

    Currently he works with hpp-architects in Dusseldorf at large-scale projects as site-manager and construction supervisor. 

    In 2012 he founded buTa - international urban design lab with his partners.
